[ ../ ](/) # Human Voices With most content now AI-generated, writing without it matters more than ever. This blog is where I find my own voice. Writing is thinking without it, I'd stop evolving. ## Writing Every time I sit down to write, I do it for me. Long flights, busy cafes wherever. I'm overcoming a tendency to consume and, instead, producing something. Creativity flows like a faucet. You have to let it run a while before anything clear comes through. That's why I write as much as I can, across topics from biology to economics. Writing distills thinking. It's only while writing that I dive deep enough to develop my own ideas and my own bet on what the future looks like shaping the world instead of being shaped by it. ## Your voice Writing will feel awkward at first. It might always. But the more you do it, the more you develop your own voice sharp and dry, or playful. A good idea, written down, has zero marginal cost to spread. Your voice becomes your personal brand: a way to connect with readers, share what you know, and make the world a bit less siloed. ## Own it The internet was built on collaboration and openness. Today it's mostly monetized, walled, or optimized for engagement. Social media users perform instead of being adopting no one's voice to chase visibility. It doesn't have to be that way. Cultivate your own corner of the internet. For me that means open formats (Markdown), open-source software (Jekyll), static hosting, RSS, and owning my domain. My voice stays mine while reaching whoever wants to hear it. ## On AI Using AI to write strips you of your own voice. I write all posts myself no AI drafts, no rewrites. When I'm done, I'll ask it to flag typos or awkward phrasing, then manually decide what to keep. I also use it to quickly validate assumptions. It would be a disadvantage not to understand its strengths and weaknesses.
